On Saturday afternoons, I like to go see a white Jewish lady friend and her two kids.
I knocked on her door this afternoon. And a striking black woman opened it.
I opened my mouth, flapped it several times silently. The lady laughed.
I forget the name of my friend. "Is she home?" I ask.
"No. She just left. Should I take a message?"
"Just tell her Luke came by."
"Luke. Ok. I can remember that. I can't write it down because it's Shabbos."
The black lady must be Orthodox. Strange days indeed.
She laughed at my confusion.
I walked off.
I found out later that she is Muslim.
