Nuchem Rosenberg’s Blog reports that the Yeshiva of Spring Valley (YSV) fired alleged molesters Rabbi Baruch Erps and Rabbi Chaim Abrahamson following credible allegations of molesting.
If they were dangerous to YSV kids, why shouldn’t others in the community be warned about them? As far as I know YSV has not taken any action to alert others in the community to protect their kids from these dangerous men.
In much of the orthodox world, teachers who are let go are given severance of one month for each year (chodesh l’shanah). Rav Moshe Feinstein wrote a psak estalishing this practice. I have also heard that that a yeshiva teacher found guilty of molesting forfeits this right to severance pay. If I were in Monsey I would want to know whether these two got severance payments. If the allegations are true, the yeshiva should save its money to help the victims in their recovery.
