I took my first computer course at Sierra Community College in the Spring semester of 1986. It would satisfy a math requirement. It would mean I would need no more math classes if I went ahead and majored in Journalism, my first choice.
I remember the teacher saying that computer companies liked to hire people who were good in English. That blew my mind.
